WELCOME

Our research focuses on understanding changes in learning and memory that accompany healthy adult aging. We use behavioural techniques to investigate how younger and older adults differ in their approaches to and motivations for learning information. Our lab is located in the Centre of Excellence at Glendon College, York University.

Our Research

Some of our current lines of research include:

Age differences in curiosity and episodic memory

  • Do younger and older adults differ in how they go about seeking information when curious?

  • Are there age differences in the extent to which curiosity drives recall memory for learned information?

Perceptions of aging

  • What do younger and older adults think happens to curiosity with age?

  • Are these perceptions of aging accurate?

The effects of agency on learning and memory

  • Do we learn better when we choose what we want to learn?

The relationship between SES and curiosity

  • Does perceived scarcity impact one's likelihood of expressing curiosity-driven information-seeking behaviour?
